WHY PERFORM TID ROLLOVER?

All prepaid electricity meters globally with base dates older than 2014, including those in KEDCO’s network, need an update. Without this update, such meters will not accept new energy tokens. TID Rollover is the process of updating such meters to enable them continue to function seamlessly.

The Token Identifier (TID) is a 24-bit field found in STS-compliant tokens, serving to identify the date and time of token generation.

The TID rollover is necessary for:

1. Improved service & security,
2. Direct & seamless communication (24/hrs)
3. Compliance with international standards.

All of which contribute to better and more reliable electricity service for you.

HOW IS THE TID ROLLOVER IMPLEMENTED?

TID rollover is performed by inputting a pair of Key Change Tokens (KCT), which are generated and issued by KEDCO, into a prepaid meter.
This update ensures your meter continues to function properly and accept new tokens.

Steps to Update:

  1. 1. Load all Previously Generated Tokens: Previously purchased or old energy tokens must be loaded into the meter before 1st August, 2024.
  2. 2. Vend as Usual: Purchase your electricity credit as you normally would. The key change tokens needed for the update will be included in your receipt.
  3. 3. On your meter, enter the two KCT (KC1 & KC2) one at a time, then the 3rd token, which is your energy credit token. Your meter upgrade is complete.

  4. If for any reason you are unable to get your KCTs on purchase, use the button below to retrieve it instantly.
