Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) is the electricity distribution company licensed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to distribute, and market electricity to customers within Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa states, covering the geographical area of 67,128 km2 in the northwestern part of Nigeria. These customers are served by fourteen (14) regional offices and fourteen (14) transmission stations across the franchise area.
KEDCO was first privatized on November 1, 2013, but was restructured by the Federal Government and appointed an interim Board and Management to steer the affairs of the Company for transition to new investors.
On November 1, 2023, Future Energies Africa (FEA) Limited assumed control as the primary investor in Kano Electricity Distribution Company. FEA’s goal is to transform and position KEDCO as Nigeria’s leading distribution company by rebuilding a modernized electricity distribution system that will enhance service delivery, reduce ATC&C losses, and improve financial performance through leveraging network investment, digital transformation and renewable energy projects to facilitate energy transition for enhanced energy security and optimal efficiency.
