Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) is one of the eleven (11) electricity distribution companies successfully privatised and handed over to new investors on November 1, 2013, as part of the electricity power sector reform program implementation.

Located in the north-western geopolitical zone of Nigeria, KEDCO is licensed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to generate, distribute, and market electricity to customers within Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States, covering a geographical area of 67,128 km2. These customers are served by fourteen (14) regional offices, through fourteen (14) transmission stations and forty-three (43) injection sub-stations across the franchise area.

In July 2022, KEDCO was restructured by the Federal Government and appointed an interim Board and Management to steer the Company’s affairs for transition to new investors.

On November 1st, 2023, Future Energies Africa (FEA) Limited took over the affairs as the core investor in Kano Electricity Distribution Company. Its mandate is to rebuild a modernised electricity distribution system that will enhance service delivery, reduce ATC&C losses, and improve financial performance by leveraging network investment and digital transformation for optimal efficiency.
